Origin
Unhappy with her lot in life as the sister of the queen of Tirza (whose name also happens to be Tirza), Shala revolts and takes over the city of Zarkhana, thereby ruling her own people and fighting against her sister. She even takes her own brother, Gaddo, prisoner.

Major Story Arcs
One day, two prisoners are brought before Queen Shala. They are Garth and Malu and they are suspected of being Tirzan spies. Shala makes Malu her slave and promotes Garth as her personal guard. She finds the guard handsome and makes a pass at him. Malu sees and lashes out verbally at the queen. Shala imprisons Malu in the Tower of Indecision. Shala later hears that Garth has shown interest in the tower and she orders a soldier to watch Garth. Garth tries to save Malu but is captured and Shala condemns him to the same fate.
The prisoners eventually escape and lead the Tirzan army against Zarkhana. Shala is arrested by her brother and locked away. Fortunately, Shala knows of secret passages and finds an exit. She finds the Rock of Munda. She pushes it from the castle wall to try and kill Garth and Malu and comes toppling down with it. It is unknown as to whether this fall kills her.
