Origin
The granddaughter of Rod Gaynor, the Golden Age Whip, Shelly Gaynor grew up to be a columnist for the Daily Recorder. A self-confessed superhero fetishist, when she learned of her grandfather’s secret life she decided to resurrect the identity of the Whip to explore what it was like to be a “super cowboy.” She chronicled her experience in sculpting her body to the demands of superhero work both in her column and in a book, and became a fairly successful superhero. Determined to take the next step in superheroism, and desperate to satisfy her need for adrenaline, she began to seek out a team.
