Personality
Â
Despite his punk-like appearance, Hisagi is shown to be a very calm and collected individual. He showed a great deal of maturity and responsibility when he was able to lead his division in the absence of his captain, Kaname Tousen. Hisagi is also shown to have a dislike for violence. This is the reason he dislikes the appearance of his zanpakuto’s Shikai state, because it looks like something that was meant to “reap life itself”.

Zanpaku-to
Â
Hisagi’s Zanpakuto is called Kazeshini. It looks like a regular katana in its sealed form.
Â
Shikai:
It’s shikai form is two double-bladed scythes connected to each other by a long chain. It is one of only three Zanpakuto’s in the soul society that release as dual weapons (the only other shinigami to wield dual Zanpaku-to are two of the oldest captains of the 13 Court Guard Squads, Jushiro Ukitake and Shunsui Kyoraku). Hisagi displays dislike for his Zanpaku-to as he sees it as a weapon that looks like it is only meant to end lives. Despite his dislike for it, he handles it very well. He can use Kazeshini as a handheld weapon and he can also spin the scythes rapidly by the chain and throw the spinning scythes at a target. The scythes move very well in the air and defy gravity when being used in that way, and by pulling on the chain to direct the direction the scythes goes in, Hisagi can make the movement of airborne Kazeshini almost unpredictable.
