Silkworm was a participant in the Arena, a Tokyo-based underground mutant fight club which was run by Masque. In her first appearance, she was booked against the superhumanly strong Musclehead as Storm of the X-Men and Yukio looked on. Through a combination of martial prowess and her web-casting abilities, Silkworm managed to defeat Musclehead. Her opponent, humiliated, broke free from the bonds Silkworm created, and was about to attack the victor from behind when Storm intervened. Incensed by Storm’s interference, Silkworm and Musclehead attacked the X-Man, but were both defeated.
