Biography
Simon Magus was a mystic figure from Astro City who had his shinnest moment in the mid 70s. A recurrent figure to consult from tv and other media, he deal with magical problems with the help of Grimoire, until his disappearance, before the mid 80s. It was revealed than in reality he had not died, as it was believed initially, but he had become the creature known as the Green Man. He was key to understand the presence of the Incarnate on Earth during this period and he warned the heroes on the eventual coming of the Pale Horseman.
Background
Simon Magus was created by Kurt Busiek, Brent Anderson and Alex Ross for his Astro city series. Same as other Astro City characters, Simon Magus serves as homage to the character of Dr. Strange in his initial form and as homage to Swamp Thing and Man-Thing in his later form. His name is taken from the biblical character Simon Magus, meanwhile his Green Man version is based in the “Green man” sculptures seen as ornamental figures in architecture.
