Origin
Slap Happy Pappy was an elderly cantankerous feisty hillbilly gentleman who had a habit of finding himself in odd situations, possessing no desirable skills or knowledge he is usually able to get himself out though pure cussedness.
However he did from time to time break the forth wall and argue with the artist drawing him, and in one instance broke his pin if he insisted on taking the story where he did not want it to go.
