Sophie Cuckoo

History

When the Stepford Cuckoos were known as the Five-In-One, Sophie was their leader and most dominant personality. They were all students of the Xavier Institute following the destruction of Genosha and the employment of Emma Frost. Because of their personalities, appearance, and telepathy, Emma took special notice to them and they were known as “her girls” (at this time no one knew they were her genetically engineered “daughters”).

They were the top of their class with their only serious rival being Quentin Quire. Sophie was also the object of Quentin’s affections (he referred to her as the ‘pretty one’ despite their obvious identical nature).

Sophie, however, loathed Quentin and during the Riot of Xavier Institute’s opening day, Sophie convinced her sisters to battle Quentin. She lead the assault, amplifying her power with Cerebra and won the battle but at the cost of her life.

Quentin then evolved into a sentient collective of psionic energy. When the Phoenix returned to earth, her reconstituted himself into a more physical form and sought out the Phoenix in order to resurrect Sophie.

He went to far as to exhume her body and restructure it partially, flying it all the way to Phoenix on an icy glacier. When Sophie was resurrected she voiced her disgust of Quentin and willed herself dead again.

Telepathy

Sophie is a skilled & powerful telepath, she and her sisters also shares a unique telepathic ability called “hive-mind” that allows them to act as one and amplifies there mind into an even greater mind.

Her telepathic powers allow her to do things like Mind Link, Mind Reading, Memory Reading, Mind Control, Hypnosis, Telepathic Illusion, Astral Projection, Psionic Inundation, Crowd Control, Sense Manipulation, Knowledge Projection, Knowledge Replication, Mental Inducement, Telepathic Communication, Telepathic Perception and many more.

Wolverine and the X-Men

In Wolverine and the X-Men, the Stepford Cuckoos are members of the Hellfire Club and were used by Emma Frost to release the Phoenix from Jean Grey to prevent the destruction that will be caused by the aforementioned entity. The Cuckoos had difficulty releasing the Phoenix and were consumed by the entity. They went on to cause trouble in the city and Emma, Scott, and Jean had to join forces to fight them. Scott blasted them with his optic blast to capture their attention, then Emma and Jean used their combined powers to trap the Phoenix Force in Emma’s diamond form, freeing the Cuckoos. As confessed by Selene to Scott, the mysterious explosion in the Institute that caused the X-Men’s temporary disbandment was caused by Emma with the help of the Cuckoos. Wolverine also sensed a vision of Emma and the Cuckoos taking Jean.

The Gifted

The Stepford Cuckoos debuted in the first season of the serie, playing a major rol. Only 3 of them appeared so far: Esme, Sophie and Phoebe. Their last name is Frost. They are played by Skyler Samuels.

The Stepford Cuckoos appear as boss battles in the game X-Men Legends 2: Rise of Apocalypse. The player encounters the Cuckoos in the Madri Temple as they fight alongside Holocaust.
