About Spaceman Jax, Through the Mantagon Minefield:

Curio & Co. has released another jewel from the past: the first issue of Spaceman Jax comics to tie in with the 1960s animated TV show, Spaceman Jax and the Galactic Adventures. Don’t worry if you don’t remember it. The show, like the comics, never existed.

The project is another imaginary trip down memory lane from Curio & Co. Since 2010, Curio & Co. has been creating entertainment collectibles from an alternate history – pop culture properties that never existed – in order to play with the power of nostalgia to re-create warm memories from childhood. Who couldn’t use more of that, right?

This comic, Spaceman Jax – Through the Mantagon Minefield, recreates the Silver Age comics of the 1960s. It includes fictional vintage ads that provide a commentary on the time period while providing a delightful contrast to the commercialism of today. Spaceman Jax – Through the Mantagon Minefield even recreates some of the technical restrictions in the way comics were printed in the past to capture the warmth and the charm of the analog world.

Most importantly, this comic, like all of Curio & Co.’s products, offer a chance to re-live childhood memories. These were the kind of comics that you hid behind the textbook in Mrs. Henderson’s Social Studies class. She’d always threaten to take it away if she saw it again, but she never did. (She was sweeter than we ever gave her credit for.)

So take a stroll back to the easier days of childhood with Spaceman Jax – Through the Mantagon Minefield. Maybe even bring it to the office and sneak a peak at work to reassure yourself that some things never change.
