Biography
Sylvar was born on the planet Cathar and became a Jedi Knight approximately 4,000 years before the events of the Battle of Yavin. She studied on Dantooine under Vodo-Siosk Baas with her mate Crado as well as future Dark Lord of the Sith, Exar Kun. Kun would be seduced by the Dark Side in part because of things he learned of the Sith from Mater Vodo’s Jedi Holocron and abandon Sylvar, Crado, and his Master to learn more about the Sith.
When the Great Sith War broke out between the Jedi and Exar Kun, Sylvar’s mate Crado would join Kun and Ulic Qel-Droma and be lured to the Dark Side. Sylvar would fight against him on the side of the Jedi. She fought in many battles and was present when Exar Kun was finally defeated by the Jedi with the aid of Ulic Qel-Droma on Yavin 4. Sylvar was not able to enjoy the victory as both her Jedi Master and Crado were killed during the war.
In the years after the war, fueled by the loss of her mate, Sylvar was filled with hatred and rage. She joined fellow Jedi Tott Doneeta on a mission to his home world of Ryloth. Tott was trying to bring an end to a conflict between clans, but Sylvar found herself urging them to fight because of the anger inside of her. She next traveled to her home world of Cathar, and tried to find peace in the traditions of her people but the rage continued to build inside of her. Tott left her saying she would need to make a choice very soon because she was in danger of turning to the Dark Side. She wanted some sort of justice for the death of Crado and focused it on the only person still alive to blame, Ulic Qel-Droma. She would shortly be able to seek the justice she wanted because she was called to aid Nomi Sunrider to assist in finding her missing daughter, Vima.
Sylvar joined Nomi in the quest to find her missing daughter and was soon able to find out that Vima had gone seeking Ulic Qel-Droma to further her Jedi training. They tracked down Ulic and Sylvar confronted him. She attacked Ulic saying that she wanted to bring him to justice. They dueled with their lightsabers and a powerless Ulic was able to hold his own against her. Ulic eventually refused to fight because he could see the anger that was fueling Sylvar and did not want to drive her to the Dark fate that he had suffered. Sylvar went to strike him but stopped herself because she realized what she was becoming. In the end, the man she most hated, a former Sith, was the one who freed her from her anger and rage. Unfortunately, the pilot Hoggon would see Sylvar hesiatate and took the opportunity to shoot and kill Ulic. Sylvar confronted Hoggon and told him that were it not for what Ulic had just taught her, she would have struck him down. She had finally quelled her anger and become a better Jedi.
