About
Takamura Mamoru is a boxing character created by Joji “George” Morikawa for his Manga series, Hajime no Ippo. The series started in 1990 and is still ongoing. Takamura is one of the main characters, and shares the spotlight with Ippo Makunouchi.
History

Takamura Mamoru was the son of the famous and wealthy Takamura family. He was a delinquent and got into fights regularly. He often ended up seriously injuring the people he fought with due to his massive strength. He was eventually disowned by his family after he started a fight with some fans who were booing his older brother during a rugby match. Takamura continued to fight on the streets even after he was disowned by his family. He was eventually discovered by Kamogawa Genji, a retired boxer and experienced boxing trainer. Kamogawa saw the natural talent and genius instinct that Takamura possessed and decided to train him. Takamura agreed and joined the Kamogawa boxing gym.
After his first few weeks of training, and without a single sparring match, Takamura defeated his first boxing opponent twenty-five seconds into the first round by way of knockout. He continued to fight professionally, winning all his opponents by knockout. He eventually became a very well respected member of the Kamogawa gym. Takamura was also responsible for introducing Ippo Makunouchi to boxing and serving as a big brother and inspiration to him. He also serves as the emotional leader to other members of the Kamogawa Gym including; Aoki Masaru, Kimura Tatsuya, Itagaki Manabu and Ippo Makunouchi. Even though he constantly looks down on and ridicules their achievements, his unrivaled strength and the few moments his true kindness leaks out prevent them from losing their respect for him.
Takamura is undefeated and has won several championships including; Eastern Japan Rookie King, All Japan Rookie King, Japanese Middleweight Champion, WBC Junior Middleweight Champion, and WBC Middleweight Champion. Takamura is sometimes called “The Bear Slayer” He earned the moniker by knocking out an adult bear with just his fists. He sustained gashes on his left arm and his chest from the encounter. He displays these scars proudly, and sometimes he would even wear the bear pelt as he approaches the ring before that start of a match.
Personality
Takamura is very hearty, rude and often behaves vulgarly. He is a loud arrogant boaster. He can be seen as a prankster and a bully since he enjoys playing pranks on people and making fun of them, especially Aoki and Ippo. He tends to get more serious when training for a match. He is known to have an insatiable appetite for women and to be afraid of ghosts. He regularly masturbates and lives by himself at the Ohta Inn apartment complex. His room is littered with junk, old food, pornography, and even his boxing belts. His pompadour hairstyle is his trademark look and he is very proud of it.
Fighting Style

Takamura is a brawler or a Hybrid boxer. He possesses genius-level boxing intellect. Even before he started boxing professionally, his strength, speed, agility and stamina were already at a world class level. Unlike most characters in Hajime no Ippo, he has no special finishing blow, but every punch he has possesses devastating destructive power. He also has a high level of endurance.
