People used to roam the world freely. They believed in the King of Colors, sitting on a throne in the mountains and making the colorful world around them, such as rainbows and sunsets. Then came a man, most greedy and arrogant amongst humans, who wanted more. So he invented a new color. The King of Color felt betrayed and sent a plague of lizards upon mankind to eradicate them. For generations, man was prey and ran from the lizards. The lizards were attracted to colors, so mankind learned to live in black and white and made their stronghold, the Pale City.
Tara had a secret affair with the ruler of the Pale City, the Makavi. Tara became pregnant and soon she gave birth to Kroma, who was born with colored eyes. In a world where color meant a certain death, Kroma was remade into the daughter of the King of Colors. Tara was hung for birthing Kroma and Kroma was made into a monster to teach the citizens of the Pale City about why they should fear colors.
