Backstory
Tem Madog was a male Cathar and Temple Master of the Forge at Vur Tepe. He was born in the Tython system and taken to the planet Tython itself to be trained as a Je’daii. After his training at Padawan Kesh was completed, he underwent one-on-one training with a Je’daii Master until he was promoted to Je’daii Journeyer. Setting off on his Great Journey, he visited each of the nine Temples on Tython and mastered the lessons and skills taught at each, gaining him the title Je’daii Ranger, the ancient equivalent to the later Jedi Knights. After years of training and gaining mastery of his understanding of balance of the Force, Madog was given the title of Je’daii Master and eventually Temple Master, being put in charge of the Forge at Vur Tepe, teaching Je’daii how to construct weapons and armor using a smith and the Force. Sometime during this time, he would participate in the Despot War as the Queen Hadiya, the Twi’lek queen of the neighboring planet Shikaakwa, united the crime bosses of her planet and gained control over other planets in the system, intending to conquer Tython to spite the “will” of the Force. Madog would fight in the conflict, despite the Je’daii being heavily outnumbered, and help them eventually defeat her forces at Kaleth. As a Temple Master, Madog was given a place on the Je’daii Council, who voted to send Je’daii Master Daegen Lok, who they considered mad, to the dark moon Bogan for receiving a vision in the Force of a dark army invading Tython after venturing into the Abyss of Ruh, a large chasm under Anil Kesh.
Mysterious Stranger
For twelve years after the Despot War, Madog would train Je’daii in the ways of creating weapons, armor, and starships and inform them of the ways the Force can be made physical. One of these days, however, he would sense a multitude of beings perish as a mysterious ship crashed onto Tython’s surface, as well as noting the fact that they were all Force sensitive and seeped in darkness, not in balance at all. As if in response to the crash, strange weather began appearing around Vur Tepe, and as Madog reported this to the other Temple’s, he wasn’t surprised they were experiencing the same thing. Joining up with the other Je’daii Council members via holocommunication, Madog learns that one of the Force storms, the one originating around the crash site, is the largest one to date since the founding of Tython, strong enough to threaten all life on the planet. As one with the other Masters, he meditates in his Temple and gathers his Force power, converging all of the Masters’ power into Master Quan-Jang so he can dispel the storm and strike down the dark side energies being given off. With their combined effort, they are able to silence the storm and take into custody its nexus, a mysterious man named Xesh. After taking the man to Mahara Kesh to heal, the Je’daii Council agrees to send him to Bogan due to the danger he represents to Tython, in the hope that he’ll meditate on the light side of the Force and try to seek balance.
Unknown Weapon
With Xesh in custody on Bogan, the Je’daii are free to examine his weapon, which he called a Force saber. It is sent to Master Madog in the hopes that he’ll discover something about the weapon, but through all of his tests, he can’t figure out a thing. The only thing he could figure out is that the weapon seemed to be dependent on the Force, as there were no ignition switches anywhere on it. Calling in Je’daii who had experience with the weapon and its owner, Madog invites Je’daii Journeyers Shae Koda and Sek’nos Rath, along with Je’daii Rangers Hawk Ryo and Rori Fenn, to his Forge to investigate the weapon, asking Shae to try and ignite the blade as she did against Xesh. When she fails to do so, Hawk takes up the blade and ignites it in the blink of an eye, cutting through a few stone pillars to demonstrate it’s power. When he was finished with the demonstration, Madog learned that the weapon is activated by drawing on the dark side of the Force, making him a little uneasy.
As he reported to the other Je’daii Masters, Madog learned that the ship carrying Xesh belonged to an ancient race called the Rakata and that they invaded and conquered worlds rich in the Force, and Tython was next on their list. Madog would be taught by Xesh, now willing to work with the Je’daii, on how to construct Force sabers and starts mass producing them for the Order’s use.
Invasion of the Infinite Empire
When the Rakatan Infinite Empire the system, they swept their way through the first planets on their way heading to Tython, but the Je’daii would reject the use of Force sabers due to their reliance on dark emotions. As the invaders conquered Ska Gora, and started their assault on Shikaakwa, the Je’daii Council deemed it necessary to use Force sabers now, allowing the Je’daii and their allies to hold their ground against the overwhelming numbers of the Rakatan’s mutated soldiers, Flesh Raiders. With the help of Je’daii Seers, Je’daii who saw glimpses of the future and decoded from deciphered from them possible troop movements of the enemy, the Je’daii were able to hold off the invaders for a year and eventually find their main force on Shikaakwa. Master Madog took place in the battle, using a standard length Force saber, as he struck down numerous Flesh Raiders without remorse. Ranger Hawk Ryo led a strafing run to destroy Rakatan Annihilators that were pushing the Je’daii forces back, and with less resistance, the Je’daii secured a much needed win.
The next day, the Masters and Xesh came up with a plan to locate the leader of the invading forces, Predor Skal’nas in an attempt to behead the beast, which would cause the Sub-Predors under him to fight amongst themselves for power and cause them to lose the war. Xesh locates the main base on Ska Gora, and Madog heads with the Je’daii and their forces to the planet, thinking the’ll catch the Rakata off guard.
The attack starts off good and just as planned, but soon the Je’daii are ambushed by Flesh Raiders as they use underground tunnels to surround the Je’daii’s forces. Fighting for their lives, many Je’daii are captured, including Daegen Lok and Sek’nos Rath, causing the chain of command to go off kilter among the Je’daii’s forces. Soon after, however, Master Quan-Jang would jump in and lead Lok’s troops, and Madog would regroup with him and Master Tave and hold off the ambush, preventing any further losses. This would be short lived, however, when Skal’nas uses Xesh and his own Force Hound, Trill, to strike out at the Je’daii Seers, cutting them off from the Force and physically blinding Journeyer Tasha Ryo. Unbeknownst to the Je’daii, Xesh had his memories returned to him and, appalled at the things he’d done under the Rakata, opted to join their side again out of self-regret. This attack caused powerful dark side energies to be released, strengthening the Flesh Raiders and weakening the Je’daii. With no hope for victory, Madog and the other Je’daii forces retreated back to Tython to defend Anil Kesh, as the Seers had seen it would be attacked next before being attacked themselves.
Returning to Tython, Madog prepared with his fellow Je’daii to defend their homeworld. As Rakatan forces attacked the defenses of Ashla, they sent ground troops towards Anil Kesh, now led by the Force Hound Trill. Madog would fight off hordes of Flesh Raiders along with other Je’daii and protect Anil Kesh until the end of the battle, which saw Xesh strike down Skal’nas after denouncing the Rakata and the destruction of the Infinity Gate as Tasha Ryo activated the Thor Yor at Anil Kesh, an ancient weapon that had originally transported Force sensitives to Tython to inhabit the world millennia ago. The Infinity Gate was a portal at the bottom of the Abyss of Ruh that would allow anyone to be transported to any world they desire. With that destroyed, the Thor Yor active, and the Rakatan’s fighting each other, the Je’daii and quickly pushed the invaders from the system, successfully defending their home.
Powers and Abilities
As a Temple Master, Tem Madog was one of the most experienced and powerful Je’daii on Tython, as only Je’daii with those credentials are put in charge of one of the nine Temples of the planet. He was a master of the Forge, teaching Je’daii Journeyers how to craft their own weapons and armor as they made their way through his Temple on their Great Journey, as well as teach them how the Force can be made physical. Working in concert with the other Temple Masters, Madog was able to help dispel the largest Force storm seen on Tython in a millennia. He was in control of his balance, and could easily bring himself back after opening himself almost fully to the dark side.
Outside of the Force, Madog was also a skilled duelist, able to survive battles against superior numbers in the Despot War as well as against Flesh Raiders and have mastered the martial arts and techniques taught at the Temple of Martial Arts, Stave Kesh. He wielded his Force saber with tremendous skill against overwhelming enemy numbers, and was able to survive and lead most of his troops safely out of a Flesh Raider ambush.
Master Madog was also the Orders greatest smith, crafting nearly all of the Force sabers used against the Rakata and a majority of the armor and steel swords used by the Je’daii before Xesh’s arrival. He was also responsible for creating most of the Order’s starships as well.
