The original Scarecrow has many names but his real name is Christopher Syn. He is the subject of a series of novels. His first novel was called Doctor Syn: A Tale of Romney Marsh.

Dr. Syn aka The Scarecrow who was well know and fear man by both sinner and saints alike, was a member of The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen along the woodsman know as Hawkeye, The Scarlet Pimpernel and his wife, Captain Gulliver during the 18th century.

He appeared in three films including a Disney film decades ago. They are Doctor Syn (1937), Captain Clegg (1962), and The Scarecrow of Romney Marsh (1963). The third film The Scarecrow of Romney Marsh (1963) was a three part Disney mini series made for television.
