Samuel Toth accidently tested a particle accelerator on himself which transformed him into the Silver Fog. Toth lost his cellular cohesion but he gained denisty altering powers. Toth had no other choice but to resorted to crime in order to fund his research in finding a cure. Toth’s criminal activity gained the attention of Chris King, a HERO-Dial user who would later be transformed into Captain Electron. King inadvertently cured Toth and in gratitude, Toth reformed himself and retired his equipment. Unfortunately, Toth’s lab assistant Edward Arling stole his equipment to start his own career as the Silver Fog and battled The New Teen Titans.
The son of the second Silver Fog, Nelson Arling modified his father’s powers with a device and became known as The Fog Prince, a villain of Impulse.
