Thunder

Current Events

Thunder and his sister, Lightning, recently tried to escape N.O.W.H.E.R.E.’s facility named the Colony along with other Ravagers such as Caitlin Fairchild, Ridge and Beast Boy. When a N.O.W.H.E.R.E. security detail showed up and were subsequently attacked by Lightning, Thunder managed to convince her to cease in her assualt. He was instrumental in escaping Warblade and Rose Wilson by blasting away a portion of the cliff, which they floated away on. They managed to make it to Seattle where the group split and Thunder was taken hostage by Shadow Walker, an old tormentor. After his sister captures Ridge and Caitlin, Shadow Walker tries to probe her for information, but Thunder breaks out and convinces her to take a stand against Shadow Walker.

Later, he and the others stopped at a stream where they bathe and he comments that it is helping the headaches he has been suffering from for some time. The markings of their outfits are branded on their skin and while his sister becomes enraged by this, he suggests that she channels that anger, especially when a group of acolytes who serve Brother Blood show up. They are overwhelmed by the acolytes and Brother Blood stops the fight. He then heals Lightning and takes away her pain, but when he touches Thunder, he drains a large amount of his blood. Knocked unconscious, he was captured alongside the others until he was released by Terra. He managed to break Brother Blood’s hold over Lightning and they began to kill Blood’s acolytes despite Fairchild’s protests. His sister leapt into a portal to the Red and he was later seen being carried on Ridge’s back when they met with Niles Caulder and Superboy.

After changing into civies, they explored Caulder’s base and he showed them the Arena, a place for them to hone their combat skills, which reminded him and the others of N.O.W.H.E.R.E. While exploring on their own, Terra’s arguing caused a headache and he began to experience seizures, which caused him to lose control of his powers and prevent anybody from getting near him. Superboy used his powers to get close enough to give him a tranquilizer, which allowed Fairchild and Caulder to treat him. They discovered a neuro-organic implant, a kill switch, in his head that had been triggered. They used soundwaves to disrupt the signal, but they can’t remove it without killing him.

After a less than stellar training session in the Arena, in which Thunder ended up hitting Ridge with a blast, the team went out on the town to relax and acclimate to normal society. Their downtime is cut short as Caulder hears of a girl named Lisa that N.O.W.H.E.R.E. is targeting and dispatches the team to rescue her. They end up encountering Windshear and Bright Eyes who have become Ravagers and, with assistance from Beast Boy, Thunder takes down Bright Eyes. Unfortunately, Warblade and Rose show up immediately afterwards as they had been keeping an eye on the new agents of Harvest.

Origin

Not much is known about Thunder’s origin but it is known that he and his sister were abducted by N.O.W.H.E.R.E. sometime in the past year.

The Culling

He and his sister were accompanying Artemis when they encountered Red Robin. He was impressed by his ability to handle Artemis and was scolded by his sister. After Leash took his sister and the Teen Titans, he returned for Thunder and the others, infusing them with blind rage and setting them on the combined forces of the Titans and the Legionnaires. He was knocked out by Kid Flash. Later, he helped fight against the Ravagers before he managed to escape.

Powers and Abilities

Thunder can produce powerful “Thunder claps”, Beams of energy that Thunder can produce from his chest as well as his back. It is said that Thunder did not have this ability until N.O.W.H.E.R.E. experimented on him. At times, he has trouble managing his powers as demonstrated in the first issue of the Ravagers.
