UltraMan is from a parallel Earth (Earth-Ultra) which is socially and technologically more advanced than our own. He was given superpowers by his government to act as an agent of peace.
During a mission in space an explosion somehow opened a portal to another Earth. Eventually he joined the Sentinels.
