Ulysses Paxton

Ulysses Paxton first appeared in Edgar Rice Burroughs’ 1927 novel, “The Master Mind of Mars.”

An American soldier in the Great War (World War I), Ulysses Paxton has his legs blown off by an artillery shell. He then finds himself transported to Barsoom. Upon Barsoom, Paxton becomes the assistant to the mad scientist Ras Thavas, learning Thavas’ brain transplant techniques.
