Val-Lor and his fellow Kryptonians were enslaved by the Vrangs. He rebelled and opposed the Vrangs, but was killed. His fellow Kryptonians were inspired by his courage to speak up and tell the truth and revolted against the Vrangs, granting their freedom. Even the Kryptonian criminals of the Phantom Zone respect him. The Kryptonians decided to celebrate from then on the day of his death with a holiday, in which they could only tell the truth.
