Creation
Velta was created in 1973, by the great artist Emir Ribeiro. Her name was first spelled with a “W” (Welta) and then modified. Velta is the greatest super-heroine of the Brazilian comics scene.
Major Story Arcs
The superheroine is the alter ego of a teenage girl from Minas Gerais named Katia Maria Lins. She helped an alien, Snirko, recover from Earth’s gravity. The unscrupulous alien Snirko used her as a guinea pig in an experiment. Katia was given a dose of the ET’s brainwave amplifier. Now if she wills, she transforms into a giant blonde known as Velta – actually an electric reactor in human form capable of releasing an unknown energy from any part of her body.
