Origin
Volto was the super heroic spokes model for Grape-Nuts cereal in the 40’s, appearing in dozens of one page ads.
The deal was that Volto arrived on Earth in a magnetic bubble (?) from Mars with the ability to repel anything with his left hand and attract anything with his right every time he said the word Volto.
This however used up a lot of energy so he had to charge up, like all people did on Mars, by eating a multi-grain food, and of course the best to be found on Earth was Grape-Nuts.
Trivia note, the food coating Shake-N-Bake was made from the fine dusty remains left from processing Grape-Nuts, so I have to assume that Volto could also make do by eating some crunchy fried chicken.
