Yona

Yona is a princess from Yakyakistan, and attends the School of Friendship. She often speaks without articles, like all yaks. She is tough and physical, fearless and eager to learn. She is insecure about learning about friendship, but finds she fits right in with all the other creatures who have come to the school to learn.

When one of the Pillars of Equestria, Rockhoof, came to the School of Friendship to teach, he touched Yona’s heart with his stories of bravery, and she did her Hero report on him. She told him she wanted to be just like him when she grew up.

She is close with Sandbar, an earth pony who invites her to the Amity ball as his pony-pal. Thinking she needed to act just like a pony, she asked Rarity for help to learn how to be gentle and classy. But she couldn’t pull it off at the dance, and embarrassed herself, running away and hiding in shame. But Sandbar reassured her that he already liked her the way she was– that’s why he asked her in the first place.

Future

In the series finale of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, Yona is shown to be all grown up and running the Carousel Boutique after Rarity moves to Yakyakistan. Sandbar is also there.
