Yves is the bother of Madame Cymbaline, current ruler of the magical underworld. Little is know of his past other than he and his sister fought for control of the underworld with Yves ending up the loser of the battle. After being defeated, Madame Cymbaline used her powers to imprison Yves in a painting (a binding frame) for the rest of his life.
Fortunately for Yves, he was able to escape when a unbeknownst Lucifer tried to retrieve a friend from a binding she had herself put him in while trying to stall to save his life. Once freed from the binding frame Yves immediately sought to do battle with his sister and take his place as the king of the magical underworld.
Freedom!!
Yves first act was to replenish some of his lost strength, through on of the few powers he showed in the series, stealing the soul of Raina, Val assistant.
With his strength replenish and new found freedom Yves set his sight on making sure he was never imprisoned again. After talking to the Harlot (the keeper of all secrets) he learns not only where to find an item that will not only make him able to traverse the world unnoticed even by those of magical nature but also who soul will give him enough power to face his sister. The soul of Lucifer.
After acquiring Michelangelo’s torque and a fail attempt to take Val’s soul, Yves next target was Lucifer soul but he had to wait as Lucifer was stuck in the Shade, attempting to save Raina’s soul, so he bid his time feeding on others till she returned.
The Race for Lucifer’s Soul.
Unfortunately for Yves his sister Madame Cymbaline had learned of his escape and knows that he seeks Lucifer’s soul to grow strong enough to do battle with her and take her place as ruler of the magical underworld. So a race was on for who will get to Lucifer first Yves or her. Unbeknownst to Yves, Val , Lucifer and Raina planned a trap for him at an art gallery opening that Madame Cymbaline was also going to attend.
Luckily for Yves he gets the jump on Lucifer while her guard is down, just as his sister arrives at the gallery. Yves chases Lucifer through various paintings, trying to convince her that death by him would be better than death by his sister. Unfortunately for Yves, Lucifer wants him to chase her so she can trap him in a Caspian still life.
When Lucifer gets Yves to a Caspian still life , she manages to steal Michelangelo’s torque from him and even though Yves has grown in strength to the point he no longer needs the torque to jump through paintings, Val has re bound the painting making sure he won’t escape. While stuck Madame Cymbaline take this opportunity to finally do in Yves and make sure he never threaten her place as ruler of the magical underworld.
