Anielle was on the run from the evil Oliver Stoker and was helped by Gambit. He protected her against her foes until she completed her mission. After this, she died or ascended.
She may have been a lesson to help Gambit and Katrina to realize the worth of one person’s soul and how flaws could, in the end, strengthen them.
