Heir to Darkness
Not long after her capture, she was placed under the wing of Ecliptor, who was chosen to be his personal apprentice by Darkonda. With her memories of her past life wiped and any connection to the past destroyed, she was renamed K-60102 or Kay for short and placed amongst a small group of children who were being trained to become warriors of the United Alliance of Evil. One of these brainwashed children was a young Divatox, with who she developed a fierce rivalry. After being constantly beaten by Divatox in training, Kay pushed herself to her limits and in a moment of weakness, broke down in front of her mentor, Ecliptor. Choosing to take a risk with his apprentice, Ecliptor revealed a locket to Kay, revealing pictures of both her and her “deceased” brother, giving her the motivation to pursue vengeance against the Power Rangers that killed her family.
Several years later and with a multitude of Ranger kills under her belt, she returned one last time to the planet where she spent most of her childhood, Mortane to fight for the title of the Heir of Darkness. Facing off against her rival one last time under the watchful eye of the almighty Dark Specter, Kay quickly mutilated Divatox in a one-sided fight, claiming the title for herself. However, before she could embrace the title, she had to be judged by the darkness itself, facing illusions of her past and weaknesses. Choosing to embrace the darkness she left the void changed, no longer Kay, now she is Astronema, Princess of Evil.
Omega Rangers
As Dark Specter’s most trusted warrior, he sends Astronema to the planet Onyx to kill the Omega Rangers. Coming across Jason Scott and Zack Taylor inside a tavern, she engages in combat with them before they are interrupted and captured by the S.P.D. under the command of Zordon. On a one-way trip to the Onyx spaceport, Astronema is rescued with the combined might of Ecliptor, Trini Kwan, and XI; temporarily allying herself with her enemies, she helps the captured Rangers escape while killing a member of the S.P.D. Thanking the Omega Rangers for the help, Astronema wishes them luck with their mission before teleporting to safety.
Trial of Astronema
Sometime after her time with the Galaxy Rangers, Karone is held on trial by a court of hundreds of her Astronema’s victims, including a pre-S.P.D. Anubis Cruger. After being rescued from the trial by Maya, Leo Corbett, and her brother Andros, she scolds Andros for taking away her decision to stay and be trialed. She returned to Mirinoi with Maya to collect her belongings before going home to KO-35
Return of the Psycho Rangers
During an attack by the resurrected Psycho Rangers led by Psycho Green on the planet KO-35, Karone is given no choice but to leave with them to stop any more deaths. While being tortured by Trek, the Green Psycho Ranger, she reveals that she still has access to Astronema’s powers. Taking the opportunity to redeem the Psycho Rangers, she stays with them as they travel the galaxy, training and helping them become the people they once were.
After Andros finds Karone, he attempts to save her and destroy the Psycho Rangers Data Cards. Unhappy that Andros double-crossed her, she attacks him to save the Psycho Rangers. After a fight between the Psycho Rangers and Psycho Green, they are all believed to have perished in the battle. Back in the Megaship, Karone explains to her brother that the Psycho Rangers are very much alive and are traveling the universe.
