Creation
Originally created for the Japanese TV show Denji Sentai Megaranger in 1997 as a minor villain known as Scorpion Nezire. Appearing in only one episode of the show. When the show was adapted for Western audiences in the form of Power Rangers In Space, the character was renamed to Barillian Bug and given a slightly larger role.
In Denji Sentai Megaranger, Scorpion Nezire was portrayed by Yoshimasa Chida. In Power Rangers In Space, Barillian Bug was voiced by Kim Strauss.

When Dark Specter recruited the Xurix to his army, they attacked KO-35. Unleashing a swarm of Barillian Bugs upon the populace. Killing and transforming those affected by their venom. Forcing Andros, the sole Ranger on KO-35 to fight against his own people.
In a battle between Andros and Darkonda, Darkonda uses a Barillian Bug in its insect form to inject its venom into Andros, causing horrific hallucinations.

Making its first appearance in the fourteenth episode of Power Rangers In Space – The Barillian Sting. A Barillian Bug faces off against the Power Rangers. Infecting several Rangers before being destroyed by the Astro Megazord.
A Barillian Bug can be seen in the Onyx Tavern in episode twenty-one of Power Rangers Lost Galaxy – Heir to the Throne, as a background character.
