Generation 1

Devastator is a Combiner that consists of the six Decepticons who are known as the Constructicons. The Constructicons (in vehicle form) resemble six different construction vehicles. The original members include Scrapper (front load shovel), Bonecrusher (bulldozer), Scavenger (excavator), Mixmaster (cement mixer), Hook (crane), and Long Haul (dump truck).

While the six Constructicons separately are not overly powerful compared to other Decepticons, their power when combined into Devastator is greatly increased making Devastator one of the more feared Decepticons. In comics, the animated television show and animated movie, the Constructicons are often in battle with the Autobots known as the Dinobots. They have a deadly rivalry with the autobot Omega Supreme.

Powers and Abilities

Devastator is one of the strongest Combiners that exists, strong enough to lift around 250 tons, if not more, and he’s also strong enough to destroy a suspension bridge with one punch. His heavily armored hide is durable enough to withstand almost all forms of blunt trauma, artillery and radiation. He also has a solar energy rifle that shoots a 10,000 degree centigrade heat beam that has the range of six miles. Being a combiner of six Decepticons (the Constructicons), Devastator is 60 feet tall.

The Constructicons are a group of Decepticons that take the form of various construction vehicles, many sharing alt-modes, body-types and even names. Unlike previous continuities, it seems as if only some of the Constructicons are combiners. Not all of them combine to form into Devastator.

Devestator can be formed from six, seven, or even nine Constructicons. Devastator gets larger and more powerful depending how many Constructicons are used to make his form. With all nine he is so large that his body cannot support itself forcing him to lumber on all fours.

Devastator is a tormented being, his very formation wracking his component Constructicons with pain and stressing them to the breaking point both physically and mentally. The imperfect fusion process produces a mind that’s very much less than the sum of its parts; rage and pain are all he knows, pushing aside whatever intelligence he might possess. Devastator relies on almost pure instinct in battle.

Devastator is named after Cybertron’s destructive Devastator Winds. Devastator creates powerful gravity wells by generating an artificial black hole within his Vortex Grinder, located in his mouth. Nearby objects are drawn into his mouth to be crushed.

In Egypt he battles the Autobots and attempts to suck up Leo, Simmons, Skidz and Mudflap with a vacuum created by a turbine in his mouth. Mudflap is sucked in, but quickly punches out of his mouth. Devastator moves on to expose the Sun Harvester for The Fallen to use, but Simmons manages to stop him by ordering a nearby military ship to fire a railgun at the Decepticon, destroying him.
