Rang-a-Tang, Detective Speed, and Richy the Amazing Boy are witness to the attack of seagulls on a film actor. The group try to fend off the seagulls, but to no avail. Also present are the technical director Mr. Salesnick and the actor’s manager, Deville.
The actor is pecked to death by the seagulls, leaving Ricky and Hy Speed the unpleasant task of informing the studio owner, Mr. Wyngold. While that happens, the director Bert orders Saul Numi to put on makeup and prepare for his next acting scene. Hearing the bad news from Hy and Richy, Wyngold is distraught over the death of the actor killed by seagulls.
Accompanied by Rang, the three walk onto the set to watch the filming of the next scene. Numi is attacked by trained rats when they are released from their cages. Rang, Richy, and Detective Speed stop the rats from injuring the actor. Detective Speed questions the Animal Trainer, but the trainer denies wrongdoing.
Salesnick accuses Deville of murdering his clients for insurance money, causing a brief fight until Wyngold intervenes. The men make amends. Detective Speed inspects the next animal actors, which are cats. Satisfied that there is nothing wrong with the felines, the scene goes on. Salesnick asks the detective to assist in the application of makeup for Richy and Marjorie Rembrant. The detective does so. When the cats are released, they attack Richy and Marjorie. Marjorie is scratched on the face by a cat and instantly dies. Hy and Rang manage to subdue the cats and save Richy.
Salesnick fires a gun at Speed and hits him. Rang defends the detective while Richy knocks the gun from the hands of the technical director and subdues him. Salesnick wanted to run Deville out of business and manage the actors himself.
