Dr. Vincent Gross was a genetic researcher working for the American government. Considered a genius, albeit with rogue tendencies, his funding was cut when it was revealed he was experimenting on infant humans. Unable to find employment after this, Gross was forced underground, using common street thugs to steal the funding for his research. He did have the authority to take what he needs for his investigation.
Gross created several subjects with superpowers, with Prime and Elven as his best achievements. However both reject him as they seen how deranged Gross was. In a battle between Duey and Prime, Gross was hurt and to survive Gross went underthe same treatment he used on his experiments, creating a Prime like body for himself.
