Dr. Barcus works at NASA and friends with Drift Marlo. Planning to attend a costume ball at the insistence of Claire, he is accosted by a sergeant in charge of security who recognizes the alien creature costume Barcus is wearing. The sergeant photographed the alien creature in an attempt to sabotage the Peace-Maker, a missile defense satellite. Drift confirms that Dr. Barcus was not the one wearing the costume at the time of the sabotage attempt. Drift eventually identifies Dr. Fowler as the saboteur. Fowler thought that the Peace-Maker threatened to bring oblivion to mankind.
