Major Story Arcs

New Spring

An Accepted of the Tower, Elaida takes an instant dislike to two new Novices, Moiraine Damodred and Siuan Sanche, both of whom rival her in terms of power. She treats the two girls very poorly, and is much harsher with them than is considered proper when training Novices. Eventually her harsh treatment causes the Mistress of Novices to step in and threaten her with a penance. Because of this intercession she develops and nurtures an intense hatred for Siuan and Moiraine. Two years after their arrival she is raised Aes Sedai, and chooses the Red. She continues to nurture her hatred for Siuan and Moiraine, and when Moiraine is tested for the shawl, Elaida tries her best to make her fail.

The Eye of the World

Now a Sitter for the Red, Elaida is advisor to Queen Morgase of Andor when Rand al’Thor is brought before the court after falling into the palace garden. Due to her Talent of Foretelling she realizes that the boy is important and believes him to be dangerous. She advises Morgase to keep him imprisoned, but Morgase declines to do so, setting him free.

Powers and Abilities

Elaida is a channeler of fair strength; at one time she would have been considered very powerful, now she is more of middling power. She was considered to be a quick learner.  As a channeler, her lifespan is greatly expanded compared to regular humans. However, as an Aes Sedai and thus bound by the Three Oaths, her potential lifespan is shortened. She has the Talent of Foretelling, which involves random, uncontrolled telling of the future. Foretellings are always accurate, but are sometimes unclear; Elaida has shown a particular talent for misunderstanding or misinterpreting her Foretellings.
