Origin
Little is known about George Lawton’s origin. He achieved great wealth in real estate, and later married Genevieve Pitt, with whom he had two sons, Edward and Floyd.
Creation
George Lawton was created by John Ostrander, Kim Yale, and Luke McDonnell. He made his first appearance in Deadshot #1.
Character Evolution
Modern Age
The Modern Age introduced most of George’s current origin. In this version he was shot by Floyd and crippled for life.
New 52
In the New 52 most elements of George’s history remained unchanged, however, he was never shot in a failed attempt on his life, and so was not in a wheelchair
Major Story Arcs
Beginnings
Hated by his wife, Lawton is targeted by her for assassination. She sends their son Edward after him, resulting in Lawton being shot in the abdomen and losing the ability to walk. Following the assassination attempt he refuses to divorce his wife, forcing her to live in a small house on the grounds of the estate with a meagre stipend. Much later, he is approached by Marnie Herrs, a psychiatrist who is obsessed with unravelling the psychology of his son, Floyd. He says that both of his sons are dead and refuses to speak with her, having her taken off the grounds by Joe Truscott.
Most Wanted
On his deathbed, George is approached by his son, Floyd, who swore to kill him in revenge for his cruelty when Floyd was a child. George spitefully dies before Floyd can kill him.
Powers and Abilities.
George Lawton is an ordinary human being, and has no known superhuman powers or abilities. He is incredibly rich, and fairly intelligent, particularly as it pertains to business.
