Grimbor the Chainsman

Origin

Grimbor started out as an assistant locksmith. He used his talents to forge chains, create locks and restrains. These creations made him the most popular chains man in the universe. He created these for private use, including some questionable purposes. He also had a few dealings with the United Planets. Grimbor did not care for what they were going to use the restrains for, he only wanted to solve to various puzzles they presented him.

Grimbor was created in 1976 by Jim Shooter and Mike Grell.

Grimbor didn’t start off being a villain. He was just a locksmith who created restrains and other things for people who wanted them. He loved the challenge that came with figuring out locks and restrains. One of the challenges brought him to an orphanage where he would met Charma, a mutant with the abilities to make males love her, and females to hate her. The headmistress wanted Charma locked away, but he fell under her influence and freed her. When Charma and him attempted to extort money from the billionaire R.J. Brande, they came into conflict with the Legion of Super-Heroes.

Grimbor appears in the Five Years Later, and was seen battling Kent Shakespeare of the Legion while trying to bust his daughter Cocheta out of prison.

Grimbor reappeared in post the Zero Hour event as an Legion villain.

After Infinite Crisis, Grimbor storyline picks up from the preboot Legion to continuity. Grimbor is freed from the prison planet Takron-Galtos by Superboy Prime. He then join his Legion of Super-Villains and assisted with Superboy Prime’s evil plans( Legion of Three Worlds).

Powers and Abilities

Grimbor is a mechanical genius, his greatest talent the ability to envision and create inescapable restraining devices that can hold anyone or anything. His uncanny understanding of how restraints work also give him the ability to quickly determine and exploit their weaknesses, making him very difficult to keep restrained or imprisoned. He is a formidable hand-to-hand fighter and has demonstrated great superhuman strength and endurance, being able to trade blows with superhuman Legionnaires like Timber Wolf and even gain the upper hand on them in many cases. It has not been revealed how he gained his superhuman physical abilities.
