One of the less impressive creations of the team of Simon & Kirby, House-Date Harry was an attempt to create a continuing character for My DATE Comics another example of the new genre of the Romance Comic, which Simon & Kirby had recently created, this one for Hillman Publications.
Most romance comics did not have continuing characters, House-Date Harry is perhaps one of the reasons this stayed true to the new sub-genre.Â

Amusing in his first story where Harry shows himself to be a âloveableâ louse and mooch who does everything he can to eat his date out of house and home while not understanding why she doesnât find his presences appealing, or why she would want to go anywhere other than her home.Â
In later stories this became less and less amusing until by his last appearance in My DATE # 4 it was downright creepy. Â Â
