Joan Dunne is an Irish woman who used to work in his father’s library in Dublin, until he died and then she was no longer able to pay the debts. She found a job as the housekeeper of a mysterious old man called Charles Moore. That man was Lord Oenghus Mordha under one of his false names, who had lost his will to live a long time ago and ceased drinking human blood, limiting himself to little amounts of animal blood. That lifestyle made him wither, leaving his un-deads to act undisturbed in every kind of cruel activity they liked. But, with time, Joan and Mordha got to know each other better, and eventually they fell in love. Mordha gained back his will and his young aspect, thanks to sincere feelings that he didn’t feel for ages. The two even conceived a son, Charles Moore, a Dampyr. After her beloved’s death, Joan gave birth to their son and started taking care of him with the help of the Sisters of Balance, with all the risks that the birth a new Dampyr involves.
