Ace Carter was a modern day free lance adventurer who ranged over the world seeking treasure and clashing with bandits, communists and communist bandits.
Lance Larson was modern day solider of fortune who was called a “One Man Army,” though he did seem to spend a lot of time being knocked on the head and captured by various groups for an OMA.
Often called in by the Army itself, even when Lance thought that regular soldiers would be able to do better, they however went to him when some sort of treasure or “fortune” was involved, after all he was a “solider of fortune.” Seriously that’s the excuse they used in the stories. The only way you could tell this character from his magazine mate Ace Carter was that Carter was blond while Lance was a red-head. (Captain Crossbones was a brunette.)
