Max is a character from Sega’s second Streets of Rage game, about urban vigilantes taking on a powerful crime syndicate, and Fleetway’s comic adaptation which ran in the British Sonic the Comic series. While in the games Max is something of a periphery character, only appearing in one title and being less directly involved in the plot, he is one of the main heroes of the comic, and arguably the leader of the heroes.
In the games, Axel, Adam and Blaze were three police officers who resigned and turned vigilante to take on the criminal syndicate that plagued their city. However, in the comics Adam doesn’t appear and Max takes his role instead. Furthermore, it is Max’s former partner Hawk who served as the series first major antagonist, putting Max closer to the centre of things.
