Space Detective Drift Marlo is assigned to escort Maybelle. This causes jealousy in Claire, who accompanies Drift to meet Maybelle at the airport. Both are astonished to see that Maybelle is a chimpanzee. The board the plane to discover that someone kidnapped Maybelle. Drift manages to give chase, causing the kidnapper to leave Maybelle for the space detective to find.
After Maybelle is sent into space, Drift tracks down the kidnapper Zahan. Zahan admits his foreign government intends to kidnap Maybelle from her space capsule by using a cutting torch. Knowing that Maybelle will take off her spacesuit in the comfort of her capsule, this causes Drift great concern. He arranges to perform a rescue by going into space with the quick-launch DYNA-SAUR spaceplane, which is carried into space on the Titan III rocket. Major Hank Mead accompanies him. Drift has ground control to communicate with Maybelle and tell her to put her spacesuit on. The enemy astronaut begins to cut into the capsule until Marlo and the Major stop the operation by hooking onto the breathing tube. Drift finishes the job and rescues Maybelle, returning home with her in the spaceplane.
