Mei served at Overwatch’s Ecopoint station in Antartctica, where she was part of a team that monitored climate change. When a blizzard struck he station, Mei and her colleagues placed themselves into cryogenic stasis. Nine years later, Mei awoke from her stasis, only to find that none of the other team members had survived the process. Discovering that Overwatch had disbanded and that the Ecopoint stations had been shut down, Mei decided to carry on her team’s work herself, accompanied by a robot named Snowball.
