Rondel

Origin

Rondel was born to an unwed woman who lived outside a small town in the mountains. He was born with no eyes, a fact that the clan blamed on the sin of being born without a father. Rondel and his mother lived in a hovel in the woods, among the bears and wolves and other beasts but Rondel’s mother kept them safe.

When Rondel grew older he made a friend, a tomboy named Esther. One day Rondel and Esther went on a an adventure in the woods, they were planning on hunting a giant boar with a giant crossbow. They were sabotaoged by some local bullies and Rondel and Esther were seprated, and Rondel falls off a cliff, is knocked unconiuous and is washed down stream.

When he awakens he hears a crow trapped in a snare. He frees the crow to learn it is really a witch named Mamie, who had been trapped by a rival witch named Eldora. Mamie takes Rondel to her house and as repayment gives him the Devils Meat Cleaver, she then takes him home. There she gives him another gift, she cuts his face to give him eyes and the first sight he sees is his hovel burned down and his mother missing.

Mamie, knew that Eldora had done this has to Rondel as a punishment for saving Mamie, and she told Rondel such. This caused Rondel to weep black tears that stained his face. He then became enraged with the evil of witches and killed Mamie with the Cleaver and swore revenge on all evil witches.
