While in high school, the woman who would become Sistah Spooky was picked on by the other students in her school, all of whom were tall, statuesque blondes. Angry, she decided to make a deal with a demon to improve her appearance. When the demon accidentally gave her overwhelming supernatural powers as well, she decided to use them to become a superhero.

Sistah Spooky feels threatened by Empowered, partly because she thinks Empowered is better looking than herself but mostly because Empowered resembles and consequently reminds her of her childhood tormentors.

It has been revealed that at one time, Sistah Spooky was romantically involved with her teammate Mindf*** but ended the relationship because she didn’t believe Mindf*** could truly love her.
