The Middle-Man

Liberator Program Candidate Number 2, Wang Biao was one of the few qualifying participants in the ‘Enhanced Soldier Project’ in the late 1950’s. Highly skilled in martial arts and concealed weaponry, he seemed like a prime candidate for the title of Liberator. But Mao Zedong disapproved of his fighting style, seeing it as dishonorable. Thus Li Feng, with his amazing marksmanship skills, was chosen instead.

Like the other patients in the project, the injections and serums began to slowly deteriorate Biao’s health. Whereas Feng was chosen for cryogenics to save his life, the others were deemed insignificant and left to die. Seeing no other alternative, Biao fled North to the Heilongjiang Providence. The intense cold in this region not only froze him… it slowed the deterioration process.

Many years later, and about eight months before Li Feng was unfrozen… Fa-Da Industries (the company who had a hand in the ‘Captain China Project’) discovered Biao’s frozen body. Using their amazing medical capabilities, they were able to reverse the damage down to his system as well as restore his full health. Biao had hoped to be given a second chance at representing his homeland, but the higher-ups decided to revive Li Feng instead… choosing him for the honor of being Captain China. Having been denied a second time to have his ‘birth right’… Wang Biao stole the costume they planned on giving Feng (a stereotypical dragon costume) and fled.

Redubbing himself ‘The Middle-Man’ (aka:’The Man of the Middle Kingdom’), Biao claimed to be the true symbol of China and opted to publicly confront Li Feng at the annual ice festival. He hoped by besting the current Captain China, he’d be given the title.

His amazing martial arts skills proved to be quite the advantage over Feng, but he was eventually defeated by his own hubris and bad timing. Angered at having been defeated, he flees in a cloud of smoke.
