Will Evans

Origin

The son of poor parents, raised in Gotham’s Narrows, Will Evans was orphaned as a child when stray bullets from nearby gang violence flew through his house, killing his parents and sister but leaving him remarkably untouched. Vowing to seek revenge and to never waste a bullet, he began training as a sharpshooter and working as muscle for hire for criminal organisations. Becoming a criminal in Gotham, he briefly met Deadshot in prison; Deadshot later appropriated Evans’ origin for himself. Some time later, having made a name for himself as an assassin, he was approached by Amanda Waller, who was seeking a replacement for Deadshot and invited him to join the Suicide Squad.

Creation

Will Evans was created by Brian Buccellato and Viktor Bogdanovic. He made his first appearance in Suicide Squad Most Wanted: Deadshot and Katana #1.

Major Story Arcs

Most Wanted

Evans is sent on a mission with Deadshot, to whom he takes an instant, and reciprocated, dislike. The pair attempt to capture the child of a ruthless drug lord, but the plan goes south when Deadshot abandons Evans. Taking matters into his own hands, Evans goes against orders and begins killing all of the people in the complex. He successfully completes the mission and accompanies Amanda Waller and several members of the Squad to track down Deadshot. He shoots the surrendering Deadshot several times, and takes the identity of Deadshot for himself. Joining the team for his first mission as Deadshot, he immediately goes rogue, abandoning mission objectives and assassinating several members of the Squad in the process. Attempting to take up the mantle of Deadshot as an assassin, he is frustrated to discover that the real Deadshot still lives. He kidnaps Lawton’s daughter, Suchin, to lure Lawton into a deadly competition to determine which of them is the best. Predictably, he loses the fight, and is killed when Deadshot shoots him in the face.

Powers and Abilities

Evans has no known superhuman powers or abilities. He is a expert marksman, and skilled in the use of firearms. He is athletic, and in good physical condition.

Weapons and Equipment

Evans wears body armour modelled on that of Deadshot, which protects him from many forms of injury. He also wears a helmet modelled on Deadshot’s, with a scope over his eye to aid in targeting and to enhance his senses. He carries two pistols, as well as a sniper rifle.
