The Devil May Care
Fuego is the leader of the Bloomington Grendel Klan. They are participants in the Indianapolis 5000, the major event in the region. Their champion, Kill Martin, is expected to win this year, which is an enormous honor.
However, Kill Martin is killed by a local disaffected youth, Albert, who wants to destroy everything about the Grendels and the race. The Indianapolis Klan, led by Hack, is supposed to guarantee security at the event, so the Bloomington clan wants revenge. Fuego, backed by his clan, goes to see his old friend Hack to see if they can work things out without war. However, Hack is outmaneuvered by his own champion racer, Malka. The Indianapolis clan has seen Hack as weak for some time, so when Malka says she is taking over, and giving Hack to Bloomington to do with as they will as compensation for Kill Martin’s death, they happily support her. Fuego accepts her offer and brings Hack back to be tortured.
